First ever Mexican wave at a test match

Post by ever hopeful on Thu 16 Jul 2009, 00:54

Headingley 1986 Eng vs India. The wave went round the ground twice, faltering both times at the members' seats (the rest of the crowd booed the miserable s0ds). I only actually stood up the second time round, not really understanding what was happening to start with (as always). Immediatley afterwards England took a wicket, the poor batsman (I think it was Azharuddin) having been understandably distracted.

I'm not into waving Mexicanly at matches, what's that for? I'm there for the cricket. For instance today, popped to 'cricket in the park', big screen in Regent's Park, people had their backs to it!!!! I watched and listened in to TMS, Lily Allen Aggers' lunchtime guest.
