I can't believe the 10% swing in Queensland Newspoll reckons is happening. Just doesn't seem credible. For people to swing that savagely when they are, by all ordinary measures, doing relatively well, would be extraordinary.

Maybe my comperes are nuts?

I think the 2004 result was skewed towards the Libs because of Latham. Bomber wouldn't ahve lost by so much so it isn't really a 10% swing.

Anything over 50.5% will be a record result for Labor, so Latham or otherwise, it's still an extraordinary proposition JGK. If it's just parochialism, why swing for Rudd but not for Hayden in 1980?

I live in a safe Labor seat and have had bugger all election material (apart from the tax payer funded stuff of course), whereas my GF lives in a Lib seat and has been inundated from both sides.

Seems the campaign has been about saving the Liberal heartland for some time now...like Howards cash hand out to the OAPs, and the tax deduction for private school fees.

57%? Considering the ALP has never managed more than 53.23% that seems a bit over the top. Would be hella grouse if it happened tho.
