Hoggy and Hicky are ITV's experts - in matching lilac shirts.

Matt Smith is the (w)anchor aided and abetted by Mandeira (spelling?) Bedi.

Hmm, if Hick is there it might make it worth it.

No idea who the latter two are though.

I'm guessing that Mandeira Bedi is related to Bishen. Matt Smith rocks up on footie shows not important enough for ITV to wheel out Steve Rider.

Not sure what qualifications Hoggy has to talk on 20/20 - it's a bit like listening to a Dutch mountaineering expert!

Wife to a filmmaker I know. NOT related to Bishen Bedi by miles.

Re: See the IPL

Post by Eric Air Emu on Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:21 pm

So the first live cricket on terrestrial TV for nearly five years and this is all the response...

Yes the commentary is riseable, the studio hosts a bit odd (although Matthew Hoggard was punditising yesterday) and the quality of cricket a bit mixed but I've throughly enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll get a bit bored of it seeing the same 8 teams play 50-odd games between them but the first two games have been fab.

First there was the Owais Shah Super Knight Devils winning a thriller on opening day and then there was the 37 ball ton by Yusuf Pathan this morning. Few 20/20 games stick in the mind but that was as good a one as I've seen. The current one isn't looking too promising (runs for Bopara though) but it's good stuff overall. Compared to the act of sustained futility which is a test match against Bangladesh it's absolutely marvellous.

One thing that I did find slightly repulsive was one of the lady owners of the Mumbai Indians preening about with suspiciously pale skin. I understand skin lightening is quite a controversial issue for Asian ladies and generally is not a good thing. It jarred a bit hearing the commentators talking about her "charity" work when at the same time she seems to be selling natural Indian skin colour down the river.

Thanks JKL. I did think of a proxy, but....

I will end up watching most games when I'm at work because of the timing. Not sure whether/ if one can or needs to conceal the use of a proxy on an office network.

Do you or anyone know whether it is an issue at all? So, if I'm using a proxy in office, is this something the 'system' can latch on to? Don't want the IT guys to get their knickers in a twist,

No idea, rather than messing with the settings in your office, try an online site such as vtunnel.com or this one for a British proxy
