Faux pas Phil strikes again

"Do you work at strip club, Prince Philip asks cadet
2010-03-12 11:30:00

Prince Philip, known for his gaffe-prone remarks, asked a sea cadet whether she works at a strip club, a media report said Friday.

The Duke of Edinburgh was inspecting cadets in Exeter and asked 24-year-old barmaid Elizabeth Rendle what she did for a living, Daily Express reported.

'I told him I worked in a club.

'He then asked if it was a strip club. Then he said it's a bit too cold today anyway,' Rendle was quoted as saying.

She, however, added: 'He was just putting people at ease.'

The Sun reported that in 1986 he told a group of British students in China: 'If you stay here much longer, you'll all be slitty-eyed'.

Prince Philip asked a driving instructor in Scotland in 1995: 'How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them through the test?'

During a tour of Australia in 2002 he asked an Aborigine if they still threw spears at each other."

Stoopid old qunt. Cool

Re Prince Philip .... Stoopid old qunt.

Nah ... he's awrite for an El Greco ... some of his gaffes are quite amusing, and the geezer IS almost 90 years old. I guess not having much of a sex life (separate bedrooms, 3 acres apart at the inappropriately named Buck House), must create an inner tension which drives him to make such gaffes.

I liked the "slitty eyed" and permanently pissed Jocks (driving instructor) references though ... neither of them inaccurate, just un-PC. Very Happy

I used to be in Sea Cadets, along with a good mate of mine (at the time anyway). He got to meet Prince Philip, who asked him what a certain badge on his uniform was.

My friend told him it was the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme badge. It seems he failed to recognise his own award...

I'm surprised he didn't ask what sort of award that was then.

He's alright really though. He's like a less offensive version of Frankie Boyle - just calls it as he sees it.

The Scottish one is brilliant though.

Scottish comedian.

In the words of Malcolm Tucker in In the Loop: "Don't EVER call me English again."
