Good time out in the middle for the Australian batters, particularly North, Hussey and Clarke.

Little to show for the Lions.

The nightmarest nightmare for Saj. "Now he can concentrate on Lancs."

Please God, if he has to play, can you please ensure Brett Lee keeps this form in the tests:

32.3 what a ball! A late reverse-swinging delivery at 92mph plucks out Solanki's middle stump, his feet shuffling to leg to avoid being crushed. Fantastic delivery 115/4

These are excellent fixtures though...

You can get a good idea of how certain players would go at the top level facing good players.

Moore,Denly & Davies come out with credit and we've seen Rashids bowling is still a long way from being ready even if he did show us some good skills with the bat.

Some idea - don't know about "a good idea". They haven't exactly been great conditions for the bowlers to push their cases.

Mitchell Johnson's gone at 5+ an over all match. If we didn't know better, we'd conclude that he was a gash-hound.

Apart from Blee, I don't think any of the bowlers in the match have looked particularly special once the new ball has gone.

Ponting feeling a lot better than he would have if the Umpire hadn't recovered there.

Hope he gets fined for still questioning the umpire 2 overs after the event.

Yeah, I meant in general rather than this particular pudding of a pitch...

Who has ever got fined for questioning an umpire?

And now that referrals have been brought in, it's actually endorsed by the ICC.

Re: Australia v Sussex/Lions match thread

The morning session convinced me that Harmy should not be in the side on Wednesday. We already have two tall enforcers who mainly bowl back of a length in Flintoff and Broad and, unlike the aforementioned Mr Harmison, they have a plan B when the ball goes soft on a flat deck. If we play four seamers, my vote goes to Siders for his left arm differentness.

Not surprised that the Aussies didn't make a game of it, but I couldn't help thinking that their predecessors would have backed themselves to have bowled the Lions out in less than 70 overs and would have pulled out earlier.

Biggest cheer of the day was when Bell was out - the little red ink seeking Brummie Twat!

Haven't changed my mind that England will win 2 - 1, but I can't help thinking that the Aussies got more out of this game than England did out of their match.
