Re: Australia v Sussex/Lions match thread
Went to bed just after Fleas perished and thought "erk, spot of bother here" but awake to see that Ollie and Pup did it pretty easy.
Yay for Ollie, good on him. So Fleas, Paris, Ollie and Pup have all had good hits, while Con and Drunk made 70s in the previous game. The big worry obviously is Con and his apparent inability to deal with the short one at him.
As a short arse, I can't believe he hasn't had that line of attack thrown at him since he was 11. Perhaps Harmy is a step up from what he has faced before.
So has GBH played himself into T1? Onions looked OK to me, while Harmy was his usual unplayable one ball, dross the next self.
Seems the Aus NSP may have had all their questions answered, but perhaps the English NSP still has some mulling to do.

Oh, and what I saw of Ollie impressed me. He was assured from ball 1 with none of the recent uncertainty about shot selection and stroke play.
Harmy tested him early with some firey stuff, and he handled it very well.

Difficult to say really. He's certainly given them food for thought but we've been here before haven't we? Do we really want Harmy to be opening the 2009 Ashes to first slip?
Not really Onions type of pitch this, he comes into his own when there is just a bit of seam movement or the deck is a bit up and down. The big question is can Flintoff, Anderson & Broad do the same job Harmy did on Hughes today? Probably.

Harmison is not in the 16.

I don't think that is set in stone though is it?

I'm not ruling that out at all. FFS, he has a 65+ career average. How the fark? Does everybody bowl short and outside off in the pura cup?
It's all very knee-jerk. He's obviously never batted against Harmison before.
And he did pretty well against the premier paceman in the world, and he bowled him plenty of bouncers.
It's not the bouncers that really trouble him is it? It's the constant body attack. He can be sure he'll get nothing wide of off stump or in his half and England will field with a short-leg, leg slip and fine 3rd man.
Unless he starts hooking, he'll get into trouble. It's a complete mystery to me, I wish i'd watched more of the SA/AUS series now. Perhaps Steyn was more concerned with hitting his head than his ribs? Dunno.
He only has to concentrate on not getting out to the short ball (as he did against Saf). Eventually the bowlers will bowl to his strengths.

Thank god North made some runs...
The final XI should now pick it's self, tho who knows what the idiot selectors will do.

Re: Australia v Sussex/Lions match thread
Pup had batted flawlessly to that point Nath, helping Aus out of a dodgy 3-90. He looked as good as anyone with the bat.
Being the selfless Dubber that he is, he was just giving the rest a chance for a hit after steering Aus to a safe position.
