Plans include
• Refurbishment of function rooms and creation of sports bars to provide improved viewing areas, similar to those offered on the northern side of the stadium.
• Upgrades to food and beverage areas, concourses and toilets to provide a more family-friendly environment.
• Improved entry point to the stadium, ensuring a more streamlined ticketing process.
• Updated audio visual equipment, including installation of plasma screens.

20 years since they demolished the old Southern Stand, and the next 20 will see rolling renovations to the current stand. Then they'll start on the Northern stand again...

And to whoever it was that said* the MCG only draws a big crowd for a couple of days a year, this year so far 2.7 million spectators have been to AFL matches there. And there's about 250 000 to attend the remaining three matches. And then the cricket on top of that.

* It was someone on this forum a while back but I can't be bothered looking it up.

Honestly can't remember, just know it wasn't me. I doubt the originator of said comment will admit to it.

I was at the WC final in 92 when the GSS was opened. It's amazing how quickly they need refurbishment. Would be good if they had named the stand after someone.

They could rename it the "One Night Stand" after Warney.
