Highest England opening partnership in an ODI against a Full Member nation since the 106 put on by Strauss and Denly against Oz on this ground on 20 September last year (Strauss and Kieswetter also put on 121 against Scotland this June).

Lotsa lip out in the middle ... seems Akmal didn't take too kindly to Trott's observation that he'd seen the Mets Fraud Squad car parked behind the Pakistani dressing room ...

Started out with Worcester at age 19 in 2005 after appearing for the 2nd XI aged 15 and moved to The Oval (along with Gareth Batty) at the start of this season to take over from Jonathan Batty (no relation) behind the stumps. Product of the Academy set up and went on his first England 'A' tour to Bangladesh in 2006. First appeared in a T20 on the West Indies tour at the beginning of last year and in his first ODI during the South African tour last winter. Will almost certainly be Prior's reserve in the Ashes squad and will challenge to be England's regular 'keeper in all 3 forms of the game. I like him - there is a touch of Alan Knott about him:
Steven Michael Davies

Of course he played in both T20s at Cardiff, opening with Kieswetter, and making 33 in the first game.

Bresnan- Why? Oh why?
Urgh. And Broad really can be a bit thick sometimes, despite what people say. What is smart about bowling short when your third man and fine leg is up in the circle?
Davies is one of the better timers of a cricket ball i've seen in recent times. Think we should stick with him ahead of Bedwetter for a while.
So yeah, well played England.
