Hazlewood out of India tour
September 18, 2010 - 6:04PM
AAP
A back injury has forced fast bowler Josh Hazlewood out of Australia's Test squad for the coming tour of India.
The New South Wales quick has developed the early stages of a low back bone stress injury, according to a press release from Cricket Australia.
Hazlewood's Blues teammate Mitchell Starc and Victorian James Pattinson are the standby players to ensure adequate cover with the first Test against India beginning on October 1 in Mohali.
Pattinson is currently with the Victorian squad playing in the Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa and will remain with the Bushrangers until their finals aspirations are determined.
"The injury to Josh is obviously very disappointing as he is one of the young fast bowlers we have identified as having an important role of to play in Australia's future," chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said.
Team physio Alex Kountouris said he will require a rest from bowling "to allow the bone stress to resolve."

FMD.
Wiki says James Pattinson is the older brother of England player Darren Pattinson. Is that right - the older bit? Hardly a ringing endorsement for the future of Aus cricket.

Ah yes, I read the Wiki entry and subliminally added an "is" where there wasn't one.
