I do have a measure of sympathy for Amir for, as you have pointed out, for his inexperience and lack of role models. But we're just assuming he's been pressurised into fixing and didn't grab the opportunity to get some easy money. If it can be proved that he was inducted into fixing against his wishes, threatened or coerced, then no problem. However, if it can't be it has to be a life ban. As much as I would love to see Amir play in the future, match fixing has to be killed off.

Oh I fully agree that match fixing must be eradicated, no arguments there. But, it must be remembered, these are allegations of spot-fixing, which in 99.99% of cases will not affect the match result.

I have to say - if the trio were accused of actual match-fixing rather than spot-fixing, I'd be less inclined to show mercy.

Life ban will be stupid.

Don't know about Samuels but Gibbs confessed. A course of action that many here are recommending Aamer takes.

Samuels was charged with releasing information to a man he considered a family friend. His family got completely hoodwinked by a bookie. He got given the minimum possible ban as a result and even that ban was considered extremely harsh.

This is a completely different situation. Having said that, I would not advocate a life ban.
