Re: Aamer's story!
unfortunately its always been Pakistan's speciality to waste talent
Aamer bowling the way he was doing at the age of 18 just seemed too good to be true.

Re: Aamer's story!
Amir would be well advised to say that he was led astray by senior players rather than continue to deny any wrong doing. That way when it all comes out, he might only get a 1-2 year ban rather than a life ban.

Asif never played for Pakistan at 18, though.

Well if he'd had a decent bookie he would have.

At least Asif's no-ball was just over the line. Stoopid young Amir's was a yard over. Copey Dunt.

Yeah, Asif was cutting it fine there if that was risking some shady gangster losing out on money!

i dont see Aamer getting a life ban ragardless of what he says, he has too many fans in the cricketing community.
Asif on the other hand should never be allowed to step on a cricket field again(assuming the video was made BEFORE the no ball event)

If he's fixed he should be banned for life, no matter how many 'fans' he has. Some acts are not pardonable.

Re: Aamer's story!
In principle I agree with you doremi ... but in this case ( Amir ) I really don't think it's quite so black & white. Without doubt he was daft & naive - but put yourself in his boots - what would you do? Consider the facts ....
He's a kid of 18, green as grass - and coming from a remote village, can hardly be considered street-wise. Whether he's approached by his skipper or an outsider directly matters not ... what exactly can he do ?
Look at the remainder of the Pakistan squad ....... half of them have played even fewer than his then 13 Tests, the other half have a history of trouble with the board - hence nobody in the dressing room to turn to for advice.
If he goes to the management - will he be believed, especially pointing the finger at senior colleagues ... and what evidence can he provide anyway ? It becomes an excercise in "he said", "she said", nothing is proved, the dressing-room becomes a den of mistrust and he gets the blame for throwing accusations around.
If he just refuses to play along without saying a word to anyone i.e. doesn't blow the whistle but fails to deliver his required no-ball - he has no guarantee that his village won't get a visit sometime in the future and a member of his family end up with his legs or back broken. People willing to throw six-figure sums around on illegal betting don't seem the type to simply write off the loss with no consequenses.
That's why I'd have some sympathy for Amir ... its my belief he is more sinned against than sinner. A ban for life would, IMO be taking a sledgehammer to a nut.

Re: Aamer's story!
Samules was banned for 2 years and Gibbs for not more than 6-7 months so i can't imagine Aamer getting more than 2 years.
Life ban will be stupid.
