Re: F**K you Pakistan Cricket

Post by Merlin on Sun 05 Sep 2010, 20:34

Been away - and even where I was, in a country not partial to cricket, this story was sports headline news.

To echo Vilks sentiments - F**k you Pakistan cricket.
Infested with cheats of all hues ...bottle-top scrapers, ball biters, dancing queens and now no-ball fixers.
WTF is it ALWAYS Pakistan?

So - a simple solution - Impose a lifetime ban on ALL the f**king cheats - whether 35 year olds or 18 years olds. There's no excuse whatsoever - and pleading that Amir is just a young tyro who was misled is absolute and utter bollocks - Amir knowngly cheated, with an attitude which basically was -f**k the game ...f**k my team mates ...f**k the opps ...I want loadsa cash and I plan on cheating to get my hands on loadsa cash.
Pretending that the poor soul was misguided is crap spouted by his apologists and, in the interests of the game, should be totally ignored. AMIR HAD A CHOICE - and he chose to cheat.
Whether it was a mere 3 no-balls or a match rigged to perfection ... the bottom line remains the same -
Cheats must be stamped out and made an example of -

A lifetime ban is the only way forward.

agree. if amir is guilty he should get the same punishment as anyone else. all this talk of him being a talent who should not be lost is bull. like gavaskar said cricket survived the retirements of bradman and sobers. no one is bigger than the game

give amir a light punishment and you can be guaranteed that some young kid will be thinking to himself that it may be worth doing it again if the reward is good enough

An ODI/T20 ban on Pak wouldn't be a bad idea, would send the message across to the board and players and would also improve their horrendous techniques in the long run if they thought they had to concentrate primarily on tests.

The thing is though Merls, it's not really the same for an 18 year old as a 35 year old is it? One's had a career and the other hasn't for one. And we don't know how he(Amir)'s been influenced or coerced, and, whilst I'm not condoning being a cheating qunt, I reckon a lifetime ban for a dodgy no-ball is too harsh and unnecessary.

I know one thing and thats Amir needs to wipe that smirk off his face whenever he's been captured on film post-no-ballgate

Sorry Jonts, think we may have to agree to disagree on this issue.

Regardless of tender age, length of career, awesome bowler or presumed coersion, Amir KNOWINGLY CHEATED to obtain financial reward for his own personal gain at the expense of his own team mates, the opposition and the integrity of the game as a whole.

Failing to set a precedent and example here and now by avoiding imposing the strictest possible sentence - viz., a life ban on all 3 players, regardless of player profile, will only play into the hands of others who seek reward through subterfuge and blatant cheating.

It's got to be done ...banning players for a shorter period or a mere sequence of games is tantamount to pissing into the eye of the majority of decent and straight cricketers and will, inevitably invite disillusionment amongst the rank and file if the penalty for cheating is seen as wishy washy.

Well, yes. But how much 'expense' did he incur with a no-ball?
Would you have banned Athers for life? What about the England team with its Murray Mint and jellybean antics? I realize you have to draw the line somewhere, and it's hard to disagree with your argument about the authorities not being weak, but I'd still feel desperately sorry for an 18 year old whose life (or career, at any rate) went down the pan for one mistake - especially given the malign influences which clearly surround him.

Merlin just hates Amir because of his over the top wicket celebrations.

Simple, ban the whole crooked country from the game. Sorted.

sadly I doubt it is simply Pakistan...the bribe money seems to be Indian in origin and any part of that world is under suspicion...county cricket has been called into question raising doubts about whether any pomgolian cricketers (inc test players) have been involved...

personally I think there should be no international cricket played for a 2 year period

Might have a wee bit to do with it Trev, but the bottom line is - I hate cheats.... including the likes of Athers/mud, Afridi/dancing queen and ball biter., etc., but moreso, I loathe cheats who seek financial gain for their grubby little selves through a rigged betting medium and at the expense of their fellow team mates, their fans, and the rest of the cricketing world.

Ban the f**king lot of them - permanently - because if they're allowed to return after a pathetic short tenure in the wilderness, who's to say they won't have one last sip from the poisoned cup in order to top up their pension fund?

I agree, i do think it's a global problem everyone is inncocent until they get caught i guess! It just seems so easy to do it aswell, spot fixing that is, little risk with high reward.
