Surely Pakistan as a whole will have to get a Test ban for this.

But what would a ban achieve apart from the death of cricket in Pakistan? Despite these terrible allegations, world cricket needs Pakistan. They produce a lot of the world's exciting, talented players. It's a tricky one.

If it was revealed that Kamran Akmal is actually the world's best wicketkeeper who has been paid by bookmakers to be sh!t for 5 years (whilst the Pakistan selectors have been paid by bookies to keep their man in the team- there was a rumour that Haider didn't really break his finger recently and that Pakistan received orders from above to reinstate Akmal ), then I don't think i'd be surprised.

I really wonder how far the match fixing web still spreads? Chances are it hasn't dissipated at all since the Cronje scandal, and it's merely become more subtle and harder to detect.

It would be harsh on the honest players in the squad (assuming there are any) but until the paying public can be sure that they aren't watching the cricket equivalent of the WWE when they watch Pakistan then I don't see any choice but to suspend them.

Apparently seven players in the team were in on it, with captain Salman Butt being described as the 'ring leader'.

Gutted for Broad & Trott really.

Considering its spot fixing I don't see the match getting scrubbed - Hansie's jacketgate game is still in the records obviously and that was the whole game.

Yes, because if you are getting thousands of pounds to bowl a couple of no-balls, its easy money.

Cronje put his captaincy on the line by declaring in a Test Match, and Gibbs couldn't afford to throw his wicket away every ODI - but if its just bowling a no ball here or there, Amir can still give 99% - he can still win the Test for Pakisten with his bowling, while cheating at the same time. His career doesn't really suffer as a consequence, 6-82 or 6-84, they're still good figures. I'm more dubious about players deliberately dropping catches - that's very hard to fake. But no-balls are easy to bowl.

Let's not be so quick to completely condemn Aamer. He's 18 years old and for all we know a lot of pressure was put on him from more senior members in the team, and even the management.

Rather makes Bob Woolmers death the same night as Pakistan lose a game to Ireland all the more troubling....

Well, he's a businessman who is being allowed to do what he does because the players are welcoming of his approaches.
