A 35-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly being caught offering to fix part of England's current cricket Test match with Pakistan.

Mazher Majeed allegedly offered to bribe certain Pakistani bowlers to manipulate the game, according to the News of the World.

Secret filming appears to show Majeed counting out £150,000 given to him by the newspaper in a London hotel the night, before the current 4th Test at Lords.

He then allegedly offers to ask certain bowlers to make sure they bowl "no balls" at specific points in the match.

Posing as businessmen from the Far East, investigators from the paper told Majeed that they were planning to bet on when no balls occurred.

The paper alleges that the no balls were delivered during the Test match exactly as described in the video footage.

The investigation has been passed to the police who in turn have alerted the International Cricket Council, the game's ruling body.

It is unclear how the allegations will impact on the fourth Test, which is due to resume at Lords on Sunday.

The bolded bid is potentially disastrous for Pakistani cricket as it basically means at least 1 of their bowlers is in on it.

Article names Amir and Asif as the bowlers who delivered the no-balls. Also suggests Butt and Kamran Akmal among others involved.

A day or two ago I was thinking that Amir could be heading for all kinds of records, now if this is true his Test career could be over already...

And without that they're probably worse than Bangladesh.

Is the ODI/T20 series in doubt now? If so with the World Cup early next year England may have to quickly arrange alternative opposition.

This is awful. Really is so sad to read that some scum bag out there is deterring the pleasure of cricket and of Pakistan.

Is it weird when Bumble mentioned they patted Umar Akmal on the back after he dropped Cook?

This is easier to follow on Pakpassion!

They're saying police have discovered 50 grand in a players room and have confiscated players mobiles.

This a damning photo if ever there was one. Look at salman Butt in the background. at that point in the delivery your eyes would be focussed on the batsman.

Asif really cant be allowed to step on a cricket pitch again unless its some galli cricket in Shiekupura.

Aamer- There are some things that are just too good to be true. Its almost unnatural for a 18 year old to bowl like he does.
Should be gone for at least 2 years.

Butt- Should be 3-4 years because he was the captain.

As Trev would often say about English cricket - Gut out the entire squad. Put in a new captain, sack Waqar Younis (or keep him, depending on his trust to Pakistani cricket) and get in a group of young players who won't be corrupted by such BS examples which these so called "senior" players are setting. It's not good on people like Amir with ounces of talent, who get caught up with a lust for money.

But naturally, the ICC and PCB are fickle, weak, individuals who wouldn't stand up for their own mother if push came to shove.
