1 small positive is that Eid is coming in about 17 days or so and according to the Islamic law you MUST donate some money to the needy BEFORE the eid prayers.

A match would be good as a focus, but where would you fit it into the calendar these days?

A short series against India will be the best possible option due to the massive financial benefits of playing vs India.

A one-off Test or a short triangular ODI with the Aussies would certainly rake in a few shillings to help the suffering thousands .... it looks absolutely horrendous out there ... I've dropped a few bob ... but hell, it needs shed loads more.

Don't quite know what to make of this attitude...
Are the BCCI really that immune to all the suffering that they'd avoid endorsing some form of money raising effort.

the bcci wont get permission from the GoI to have a match against pakistan

they would almost certainly allow their players to play in a world xi match though

yup. thats why the GoI gave $5 million to pak with the promise of more aid if pak accepted that

also why they helped them during the kashmir quake of 2005

of course india is quite wary where the aid finally ends up. the aid in 2005 didnt end up changing the mindset of the more militant pakistanis vis-a-vis india. it wont do the same this time as well, but india has to take that risk

its not a conditional offer. pakistan didnt accept india's initial offer at first. they had to be admonished by their own population and the yanks to finally take dirty indian money
