Re: Pietersen- I'm losing patience

Now KP wants to play a couple of four-day matches for Kwa-Zulu Natal in the Jaapanese comp to regain some form for the Ashes. Apparently for no pay. The ECB has approved, but Cricket SA has to approve the move.

Given that KP shat on them, choosing to play for England, CSA should tell him to get stuffed.

CSA has given its imprimatur on the matter.

I think KP's problems are mental - he should just watch recordings of himself batting against the Aussies in 2005.

His technique is a bit different now. It sounds strange, but his problem is that he's trying to be too correct these days, rather than going out and flicking balls extravagantly from off to leg, reverse sweeping sixes, flat batting Brett Lee straight etc.

Some credit to the bowlers please ... for working him out in most areas of his big scoring strokes.

It's not ALL about KP ....

I see to recall having an argument a couple of years back about how the SA bowlers attacked KP.I suggested that they deliberately left a hole at shortish midwicket to encourage him to play there. Of course I was shot down......

He's still not scoring any runs. No matter what team he plays for. If he still hasn't got a decent score next to his name leading up to the first test, I wouldn't pick him.

I mean, it's not like we didn't win the last ashes without him in two of the tests, and he's certainly not undroppable.

Why do you think KZN dropped him all those years ago?

I still think he's the only batsman we've got who could really scare the Aussies in terms of being able to take a game away from them in a session. Without him the batting order is, well, workmanlike at best - although I suppose the alternative is Morgan who does offer something different but is a long way from being proven as a Test player.

Only taking one spare batsman could backfire, as there's Cook and Collingwood with serious questions over their form as well, Morgan as I said unproven in Tests and Bell has had little cricket since early in the summer.

Sure, he might come back and smash us in the Ashes. But I doubt it.

Well, he's NOT undroppable. Or he shouldn't be. And we DID win the last ashes without any significant contribution from him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, so yeah, call me out......
