9 points from the Sussex encounter.

Surrey at The Oval on September 7th, is a must win now.

Are you going up, Smerky?

Will the daffodil bloom next spring?

I certainly hope so, Pete. I'm anxious that an aggressive KP on a flat Oval pitch might be too much for us. I'm planning on a trip to Yorkshire next season, IF we go up.

Good oh!

I wish you luck.

It's mad when people say that to everyone - not mad, but hypocritical - but I mean, if you have the skill, I wish you all the luck! Smile

Another solid win for us in the Pro 40 tonight.

At one stage I glimpsed Andrew Hall bowling to Anthony McGrath and thought the aspect ratio on my TV had got messed up again. But no, he really is that fat.

How soft is James Franklin as well? Can't believe with Derbyshire 38/8 and him with bowling figures of 6-3-14-7 he allowed the captain to take him out of the attack. Imagine trying to do that to Fiery Fred or Hadlee in that situation.

Also, Gemaal Hussain's had better days: 4-0-15-0 out of 44 all out in 16 overs.

There's hope for Essex yet when we return to where we came...

Chesney Hughes scored 96 not out on a horrible wicket.

I really hope the Leeward Islands selectors pick him for their next 4 day squad as I can see England trying to steal him if this form continues.

Pears 313 ao against Middlesex. Not good enough I fear - we need maximum points to have any hope of promotion.
