Re: Collngwood still rates Aussie attack as best

The publication said it. Where's the quotation marks?

"I think they (Pakistan's bowlers) have got a lot of talent but to say they are the number-one pace attack in the world is probably over the mark,"

"They have played in conditions recently where it (the ball) has done a fair bit. Australia for me are still a very, very strong bowling attack,"

"They have got a lot of pace there and I guess if they had have got those same conditions on the first day they would have caused a lot of problems.

"They have got skill and we need to be careful but I think we can handle whatever they throw at us.

"When India came over (in 2007) and used the Dukes ball they probably surprised us at that time with the amount of swing they were getting, so they (Pakistan) are going to pose similar questions. Hopefully, we are better prepared this time round.

"We don't want to go overboard that these guys are the best thing since sliced bread, or Wasim Akram.

"We have seen that they have got a lot of skill, but if we can get through those periods where it can be really tricky, we can get on top of them."

Where does Collingwood say Australia's attack is the best?

So you are quibbling about a pait of quotation marks.

Bit of a piss poor argument.

Well usually if something isn't quoted, the guy didn't say it.

So the publication made it up. It all makes sense now.

Or it could be that you didnt read it properly in the first place.

So in your little world, any publication can say anyone said anything but they can't be sued if quotation marks aren't used.

Sorta reminds me of laura trying to argue about "hearsay" but fair enough.

The inference (from his quoted lines) seems to be that Colly doesn't think the Paksters are no. 1 and that the Aussies are the better attack - not that it matters much. shrug

This is a strange thread. Taipan and Red seeing eye to eye - and not only in terms of swimsuit parades.

FWIW, I would give credence to Trev's and TO's take on this latest FB storm of controversy in a teacup ...

i.e. if something is not quoted verbatim (meaning that the quoted view is authenticated, and actionable if incorrect), you have to be wise enough to be sceptical enough to consider if this opinion is:
a. merely space-saving reported speech, or
b. lazy and/or provocative paraphrasing (sometimes inventive licence) by any standard journalist - which happens all the time, as someone indicated above.

That's all.
