McAfee - See You Next Tuesday

Post by skully on Thu 17 Jun 2010, 18:59

Fark me. Automatically stung my daughter $100 for a 12 month renewal (on my credit card - the bint doesn't have a card so used the Chief's/mine last year and reimbursed us) and then when I rang to tell 'em to fark off, they lectured me about the criticality of having proper antivirus protection, and saying it was in the fine print that the subscription would be automatically renewed unless we chose otherwise. Qunts.

Along with Zat, McAfee have just lost another costumer. Farken hide of the pr!cks.

Pretty sure that that's illegal.

That's exactly what I told the jibberer on the phone. Needless to say, the money has been reimbursed pretty damn quick.

I said "if this is the way you guys do business, good luck with your future."

Nice that you finally got away from the Dark Side skulls. Have gone to Norton - despite all the 'bloatware' and 'slows your system down' comments beforehand, and so far have not had a problem with it.

Even got the first two months for nix after downloading it. Suppose I could do a thorough uninstall every two months and keep getting it for free forever...

Actually when I read your initial post, and being extremely non-computer savvy, I thought you were talking about a credit card company.

Sorry about the crossed lines.

Oh! And if anyone out there is looking for a good stock market tip, buy sign manufacturing companies. Had lunch with a mate today who runs traffic controller (lollipop people at roadworks) courses. With all the infrastructure going on they're starting to run out of those "men at work" and assorted signs. Whereas previously they didn't give a flying fark if some yahoo knocked them off or shot the shite oput of them, apparently now if you need some it's like trying to buy nuclear weapons, only more expensive.

Trialled Avast and it was pretty damn good. Currently offering 2 year sub for $50.
