The Pakistan 'Home Series' roadshow continues
Seems like the USA may get some Pakistan home matches.

This may be a good way to introduce cricket to the US at a high level. If it's in their backyard, they might have to take some notice of it.

I doubt the US will ever be bothered with Cricket excepting for the peoples from a Commonwealth country background.

Re: The Pakistan 'Home Series' roadshow continues
Pakistan's last 'home' series on foreign soil was against New Zealand in the UAE. While they lost the ODI series 1-2, they won both the Twenty20 internationals that followed.
Heaven forbid they didn't win the two T20 matches. FFS.

In some ways, I hope you';re right, but in others, I hope you're not.
I'd like to see the US getting to a point where they can dwell comfortably on the fringes of cricket, occasionally making it to wt20 and WC tournaments on their own merits, not due to ICC exemptions.

Not long ago there was a lot of noise about China and Japen wanting to get into Cricket and implementing steps to seed it at the grass roots level as part of their school curriculam

It's not going to happen unless they actually field at least one American at some point.

That's a sage point.

Can't see the US being interested in anything other than 20/20, and then it's a very long shot about it taking off.

Re: The Pakistan 'Home Series' roadshow continues
I can see Tests in the USA being something along these lines.
First day; there'll be a buzz of excitement in the air. American's naively turning up like it's an NFL/NBA/NHL game wearing face paint and carrying home-made banners. Every run that's scored gets a massive pop. Every wicket - a similar reaction.
The morning session is a massive success. The stands are jammed. They've seen a mix of swing bowling, boundaries, a few wickets and the partial sighting of a spinner. All is running smoothly.
Then....the Afternoon session hits. After a massive McDonalds/Taco Bell or whatever else is on sale in and around the ground, people start growing fatigued and itchy in the heat. The pitch starts to flatten ever so slightly, and that spinner - who they saw in the morning session - has been bowling for AGES.
An American in the crowd ponders; "That guy has been doing that for a while, when is something going to happen?"
Around 2.35pm, after some tight bowling in which runs have been hard to come by, the crowd is a complete contrast to the buzz of the morning session. The jocks and jeerer's begin to slowly exit the ground due to boredom and indigestion. Their three hour stint at the ground is over.
Another crowd member asks the steward, "Excuse me, but who's winning?"
3.30-4pm arrives. A third of the crowd remains. Things start to pick up a bit in the evening session. The deteriorating light forces out a mini collapse from the batting side and the swing bowler and spinner whom had caused so much interest in the morning session, were returning with an invigorated spell after a quiet afternoon.
Unless it's thrown at an American, and aslong as it lasts for 3 hours, they'll watch it.
Day 2, only a trickle of people attended.
Day 3, the stewards and a couple of straddlers.
Day 4. the match was won after 15 overs.

Don't get me wrong, PP.
It just seems to me that T20 is better suited for an American society (at present).

Explain their fascination for golf. Which lasts four days.
Or tennis tournaments. Which last a week. Or a fortnight for a slam.

Re: The Pakistan 'Home Series' roadshow continues
I think we've covered this before.
I see your point, but cricket is one match over 5 days - not several small contests building up to a final.
I don't know, I just don't think Tests would work in America.

When I say they wouldn't work, I mean with USA as a team taking part.
Might be different if it was Pakistan v England.
