India to lose the first test by a mile now. Dravid and Laxman both missing tests together in the twilight of their career. Ominous signs for India and a glimpse into Team India's future once they are finally gone surely?

don't think they will lose the first one.
if the saffers get the hang of it, they may lose the second one though.

In theory this is the series to confirm the No1 team in world cricket. Only 4 pages...gay.

that's only because Dravid and Laxman are injured.
or the perception that it isn't a 'full strength' team, more of a hit and miss or more of a miss for the bcci team here.

If Sehwag fails there will be a big problem in the first test. 3 rookies in place of Laxman and Dravid [not that Yuvraj will be missed]. The last time the middle order opened up this wide was in 1995 when we toured England and discovered Dravid and Ganguly. But do the likes of Badri measure up? Vijay may do ok. Rohit is a huge miss as far as selection is concerned. Would have liked to see what Panday or Pujara would have done. Sachin and Gambhir can hold the fort but the Sehwag's inability to play for time with an inexperienced middle order is the real headache.

Pitch: The pitch is lot more browner than for the previous international games on this track, says SM Gavaskar. It will dry up and help spinners, adds SMG.
And so it begins . . .

No Laxman and no Rohit Sharma. Laxman didn't get fit and Rohit injured himself in the morning during practice.

A lot more brown would have been preferable.

Saha is making his debut for India.
I believe he's on loan from Everton specifically for this Test.
