Celebrate mediocrity.
If the third test between the WIndies and SL is a draw, The Ashes will suddenly become a series bewteen 3rd and 4th in the world.

Ah, I see that we'll go equal second with the Saffies.

If we lose or draw this current Test, then we fall below England.
The only saving grace is that to fall any further would require about a 30 point drop to Pakistan's level...
Give it a season.

Re: ICC Test rankings predictor - try it yourself
Given the lameness of some of the individual performances, perhaps some of the Aussies WERE doing a Pakistan and had some tidy cash on an innings loss and an English retention of the Ashes.

Take that back Skulls.
Disappointment forgives many things, but not shameful allegations against out-of-form skippers, effete VCs or technically clueless Wozzie number 6s.

It's the abject disappointment speaking, Petey. I have no wish to detract from a mighty English effort, but my boys were complete sh!te.

Re: ICC Test rankings predictor - try it yourself
Not all of them.
I'd except Hussey (despite one off game), Haddin (by and large), Watson (to some extent), Hilfenhaus (who was at least mean and gave nothing away) and above all Siddle.
I never feel like praising Midge, cos I think he is psychologically flakey and a WACA bully, who terrorises when he has things going for him, and is otherwise sub-Harmison, a club standard slinger. He seems to have almost no moral fibre. Possibly another mummy's boy?
Oz need Katich back for the SCG

The problem with the ICC rankings is that they aggregate performances over the last 4 years, so tend to reflect who the best team was 2 years ago.

I said that in October. The clock is ticking.

Re: ICC Test rankings predictor - try it yourself
So, the current table is:
Pos/Team/Matches/Points/Rating
1 India 42 5357 126
2 South Africa 36 4228 117
3 England 49 5701 116
4 Sri Lanka 31 3311 107
5 Australia 43 4583 107
6 Pakistan 32 2870 90
7 West Indies 28 2398 88
8 New Zealand 32 2482 78
9 Bangladesh 19 131 7
Believe it or not, because India didn't chase down the WIndies total and allowed the match to finish in a draw, the WIndies went up 2 points, and India fell 2 points.

Re: ICC Test rankings predictor - try it yourself
So the upcoming SL v Aus series is a battle for the highly prized 4th position in the rankings? Sums up all that is wrong with Aus cricket at the moment, starting with Hildick.
