England qualification change?

Post by Shoeshine on Mon 11 Jan 2010, 02:47

Quote from Geoff Miller:

We understand the concerns - I'm an Englishman myself - but Craig [Kieswetter] has met all the criteria for becoming English and has shown that he's a quality player. In two or three years time I might put a kind of a block on it as such."

Meaning?

That to play for England you have to be willing to put it on a block. As such.

Kieswetter did. South Africa tried to call him up and he refused saying he wanted to play for England.

Difficult one really.

That Geoff Miller will still be in charge in 2/3 years

Not sure they tried to call him up but I think Smith was quoted as saying they would like him back in SA cricket

Yeah I did spot that subtle inferrance - cheeky bastard Dusty.
But, having been the CIC when Englnd regained the Ashes, beat the Saffers (foregone conclusion I'm afraid taips) and likely thrash the Bangles in the Spring, Miller will be riding high (on top of Giles who loves being under) , until we get creamed Down Under next festive season.

That's when Dusty's wriggling will start!

We'll be lucky not to lose the series now.

Only way it's going to be a draw is if it rains.

Seems that may well be the case ... saw a BBC News item about the Angola shootings that was filmed in Joburg last night - and noticed lightning flashes across the skies in the background ... perhaps taips can provide us with a weather update every 24 hours ....

Interesting comment from Trott's old coach:

"I think that even though he was born and bred here, and brought up through the system, I think that it was always in the back of his mind that that was a place that he would like to make his home, and he's done it very successfully."

Maybe we do him a disservice and he always wanted to play for England.
