I don't see that as being any different with the Australians though - you can make just the same arguments about them.
And to emphasise how close both teams are, you could use the title, 'England will struggle to retain the Ashes' and make a similar argument for that theory.![]()

So can Jimmy, Broadaxe and Rings step up and make an impact in Aus? Unlikely to get too many green decks (although you never know) nor overhead conditions conducive to swing.
England's batting roster looks pretty good on paper while Aus's has been very erratic.
Could it get down to a bowl-off between Swanny and Haurie?
