Whether they do or don't, day one seems a touch early to say that!

Didn't listen to the Beeb, but I could hear Boycs' "you can't win a Test on t'first day, but you can certainly lose it" mantra reverberating in my head.

And England have lost this. Just like that. Two sessions, game over.

They have unless they bowl well and Sidders locates the stumps. Time to show some more fighting qualities. Hark at me, the optimist...

Won't deny that the same thoughts were going round my head too.

But they might fight back tomorrow you know. They could bowl them out cheaply and be back in the game.

No, I don't believe it either.

So who's doing the Joburg rain dance then?

If we won the series because this match was rained off, I'd feel appallingly ashamed for at least 10 seconds.

Weather forecast is cheery though if you're an England fan.

It's going to rain solid for 3 days is it?

Maybe 4 days solid:

Or maybe once on each of the four days. Make your own mind up.

Could be as little as three days play overall though. But as we all know, England are never saved by rain, it only widdles down if we look like winning.

Farking hell... (not that I trust BBC weather)

I still want a positive result in the game though, hopefully that sort of weather means there will always be a bit of juice in the pitch.

A more reasonable weather forecast suggests regular occurrences of light rain tomorrow with showers on Saturday. Sunday says occasional storms whereas Monday is just 'Rain.'

So, maybe enough to lose a day in there somewhere, maybe more. Just got to battle hard for everything now rather than do our dead duck in the field act as we let them cruise to 550/7d.

Yep, we'll probably still lose.
