Any team on top right now is the worst best team in 35 years, whether that be India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia or England.
There's no one great Test side out there, first to fifth are all half decent.

I really like it that way. Makes for more interesting matches, fantastic games even, unlike most of the last 20 years when you could comfortably say Aussies- W, Any Other Team -L.

It may also make the whole idea of the Test championship more interesting, because it's an aim that a fair few teams can aspire to win. From 1975 to 1992 or so, it was clearly the West Indies, from then till 2007 it was clearly Australia, and whether you had a table or not, everyone knew it. Now, if a meaningful way of doing it can be found, you have several teams who could make a claim. It is of course why Bucky is a farkwit, but we knew that already.

I think it's more the fact that it's not the Australian team with their boorish behaviour on top that makes things more interesting these days. They were a great team, but unlikeable.
Yeah yeah, i'm anti Australian and all that, but let's be honest- Most non Aussie cricket fans felt good inside on the rare occasions that Australia was beaten in a cricket match between 1999 and 2007.

That's unfair. The team on top is always a target for stick, the West Indies were in the eighties for being boring and killing the game by monotonous fast short pitched bowling.
The Australian team were less than gracious, but it doesn't alter their greatness one bit.

I'm not saying they weren't a great team. I'm saying they were a bunch of tossers and that's one of the main reasons people liked to see them get beaten.

My point is that even if Australia had been comprised of 11 Little Lord Fauntleroys people would still have been desperate to see them lose. Nature of the beast for the top team.

Nice admission. Now when are you going to be honest? Actually, what about being balanced? Or at least ocasionally saying something positive about Australia?
