Rugby Leeeeg 2010

Post by Zat on Mon 04 Jan 2010, 02:22

Four days into 2010 and the first Leeeeg scandal has hit the press.

Rugby league player Todd Carney reportedly injured a man by setting his pants on fire in an incident on New Year's Eve.

The Seven Network reported the footballer, who has a history of behavioural problems, and a companion deliberately set the man's pants on fire, burning his buttocks, scrotum and upper thigh.

The alleged incident occurred at Airlie Beach in North Queensland.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland police said a man had presented to Proserpine Hospital for treatment for "minor" burns but no official complaint had been received.

Carney is due to play in the NRL with the Sydney Roosters in 2010 after spending a season in the Cairns district competition following his sacking from the Canberra Raiders.

The 23-year-old was sacked by the Raiders and deregistered by the NRL in 2008 following a series of alcohol-fuelled indiscretions.

The Roosters said they only found out about the allegations on Monday afternoon and are yet to speak to Carney, the ABC reported.

Comment is being sought from the NRL club.

The Raiders gave him an ultimatum, telling him to get off the booze, or be sacked. He refused to give up the grog, and spent last year working for a pub while playing country leeeeg in North Queensland, remarkably without incident.

He'll fit right in at the Roosters.

Gotta love some of the cheap sluts who follow leeeeg, and their timing when it comes to exprerssing their 'admiration' for some players.

From today's SMH...

THE father of a girl who claims she was sexually assaulted by Manly fullback Brett Stewart told police the star player's pants were open, his fly was undone and ''his old guy'' was visible during a confrontation after the alleged incident, a court has heard.

According to documents tendered during Stewart's committal hearing yesterday a woman then came out of Stewart's townhouse and pointed towards his crotch.

''Why are your pants undone?'' she had asked, then said: ''Not again,'' before Stewart told her to go back inside.

Stewart, 24, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he sexually and indecently assaulted the 17-year-old on March 16 outside a block of townhouses in North Manly where he lived.

It is alleged that following a brief conversation, Stewart had ''cornered'' the teen before shoving his tongue into her mouth and then putting his hands down her pants and touching her vagina, Downing Centre Local Court heard.

Stewart arrived at court with his girlfriend, Jaime Baker, by his side. As he moved through the media scrum, a female fan wearing a Sea Eagles jersey shouted, ''I love you, Brett.''
