Premature ejaculations?

Post by Red on Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:03 pm

In the following articles Nielsen believes Australia's attack is about to become the most feared in the world again, Spanky suggests that Hussey, Hauritz and Watson have led an Aussie revival and Nielsen again, is very sanguine regarding our future and is stoked by our performances.

Are we reading too much into form against the Windies and Pakistanis? Are they a good barometer regarding the prevailing standard in world cricket or should we wait until we confront the poms next year before making these sorts of pronouncements? Meanwhile Jenner wants the promising Steve Smith put on ice in terms of a test call-up.

But let's be honest- Australian cricket rides along on a float of hype and denial. You'd think they'd just beaten the Windies team of the 1980's, and the Pakistani team of the early 90's. Hauritz takes 5 wickets against poor batsmen, and suddenly he's the best spinner in the world, Watson makes a few runs against modest attacks and he's suddenly the best opener in the world, Australia collectively puts in some decent performances against 2 teams ranked 7 and 8 in the world, and suddenly they're on their way back to the summit. It's like the other players and teams around the world don't exist.......

fact is Aus cricket publicity machine thrives on hype and dare anyone puncture that hype with even a pinprick then all hell breaks loose and there are warnings and level 2 slapped all around with the ICC stepping in and imposing penalties on just the subi or windies teams.

this is the true face of the farce that is cricket aus.

Red and Trev, living in their paradise where stating the f*cking obvious is deemed as a good thing.

Although Trev missed the point a tad.

There's something to be said for the relentless optimisim I suppose. Even if it is incredibly irritating.
