Re: Composite Team of the decade
Looks like Pollock has to take the other pace spot
There is no way I am having Ntini, Lee, or Harmy in there
Perhaps Shoaib/Bond can go in there for potential (snigger)

Re: Composite Team of the decade
Pollock was sensational from 2000 until 2002. In December 2001 he actually averaged 19 with the ball after something like 60 tests. Went downhill a bit after that but was always tidy. Steyn has also been excellent for the last 2 years. For the whole decade, i'd go for Pollock because of his superior batting.

Wouldn't have Hayden, what with him being an overrated flat track bully and muscular christian. I'd chuck Gayle in there. Ponting would be disruptive and so I'd replace with him Jess Ryder at 3. Kallis is just too dull and is a mediocre third seamer for the team so I'd shifty Freddy up to 6 (the top five and Gilchirst would score enough) and bring in Shoaib Akhtar. Murali might well be illegal so I'd have to replace him with Harbajan Singh and voila a fruity and combative team:
Sehwag
Gale
Ryder
Lara
Tendulkar
Flintoff
Gilchrist
Singh
Warne
Mcgrath
Akhtar

Kallis is wasted at 6 with the likes of Gilly and Freddie behind him - he could end up 40* every innings while watching the rest of those coming after him compile 200+. Despite being one of the players of the decade, I think I'd struggle to find a spot for JK - I'd prefer Sanga as a batsman at 6 and Kallis doesn't displace Ponting, L or T.
I'd also have Pollock for Murali although ideally I'd have a left handed quick.
