And here I thought only India suffered from a 4 captain summer in the history of the game.
Cheers AD for the stats posted! Most interesting!

though if you include the bangles lanka has won their first 12 tests against them (and its an unbroken run so far)
Absolutely right, TO, the Lankies have defeated the Bangles 8 times at home and 4 times away in an unbroken run between September 2001 and January this year as this confirms:
Sri Lanka v. Bangladesh
No excuses, I should have checked. I did for India and Pakistan against the Bangles. I didn't think the Lankies had played that many Tests against them. I got some (but not all) of my stats from an email I received from Rajesh Kumar, an Indian statistician who supplies some of the material for The Playfair Cricket Annual but he chose not to mention the SL v. Bangladesh series which is clearly the record for 2 Test-playing sides. I shall write to him immediatement. The Lankies will have a chance to add to this record when they play the Bangles again in the New Year in the triangular Asian Cup along with India. Thanks again, for pointing that one out, TO. Guess I shall have to learn to walk like an Egyptian, now!
Happy New Year!

Yep, Gatting in the 1st Test (Drawn, but he may or may not have scored with the barmaid), then John Emburey in the 2nd & 3rd (L,L), Chris Cowdrey in the 4th (L) and, finally, Graham Gooch making his debut as captain in the 5th (L).
