Doing a good job, maybe? Batting's certainly improved in bits and pieces since the Windies. Broad has improved massively over the year. Anderson's still dog-shite, but I don't expect him to be a magician. Obviously, it's hard to rationalise the coach's role, but he must deserve some praise for an improving England side. Even though we're still going to be a bit crud along the way, we compete a lot better now than before.

Ashes 2006/7 aside, we were never getting severely spanked anyway. We were losing to the top sides by the odd test in a series.

You're right to say we're still going to be crud along the way. We're quite capable of throwing in a 'Jamaica' now and again.
