Dracooo!!! What a year....
Not always been everyones favourite on here but he's had a decent year - think I saw something like 40 wickets at just under 30.
Not world beating, but perhaps sticking by his potential when perhaps he deserved to be dropped at Leeds has paid off.
Just needs to be reminded to pitch the f***ing thing up!

Hmmmm, ok - but his batting today was incredibly thick-skulled and he throws too many tantrums for my liking, but Swann and Broad could well be the heartbeat of this side for the next two or three years.

Re: Dracooo!!! What a year....
For England's "most intelligent bowler" (MP Vaughan), Broad isn't half a slow learner.
But when he remembers to pitch it up, and has the patience to follow through with that mode of attack, he's all kinds of pretty decent.

in 2009 he averaged 29 with the bat and took 71 wickets at 33. However, his bowling average is heading downwards steadily and gradually. Hopefully he know what type of bowler to be now and his average will stabilise around 27.

Sky compared his stats to Freddie after the same amount of tests, more wickets & more runs....still very young.

Re: Dracooo!!! What a year....
Yes, well done to him for a decent year. Its fair to say he's been a huge influence on a few matches, with the figures to show it.
As JK says though - he needs constant reminding to pitch it up. When he does that, he's very effective - when he drops it short all the time he's fodder. Used sparingly he'll have a real potent weapon with the bouncer.
I wouldn't generally give him the new ball, but have him first change. Onions will always keep things tight from the off, and if there's any swing to be taken advantage of, Anderson will find it. On the increasingly rare occasions that he doesn't have a decent opening spell, Broad can come in for a while - JA's later spells are usually better than his opening 2 or 3 overs.
And - as has been pointed out ........ lose the petulant streak which makes him look so stupid when he doesn't get the decisions.

Demon balls to get Kallis and AB. And 71 wickets in a year is very good. Not as bad as I first thought him to be.

That's not right, Rob I. Do you mean 2008?
Cricinfo has Broad currently 3rd on the list with 46 wickets at 28.43 for 2009. Midge is the leading wicket-taker to date in 09 with 63 wickets at 27.42, with Swanny 2nd on 52 wickets at 28.38. Midge can't improve that but Swanny and Broadaxe can.

Ah, I see. Perhaps there was some dodgy grammar there from Rob. Cheers TO.
