Re: India v Sri Lanka, 5th ODI, Delhi, Dec 27
The Lankan captain is a piece of chicken. After a long time we have a wicket in India that looks un-Indian and more South African or Australian. The wicket has unusual amounts of grass left on and the bounce the ball gets has been a beauty. The ball suddenly takes off and there has helped it get an extra nip, zip and sometimes bounce. Most Lankan batsmen after batting the whole series on flat decks has no clue how to handle the sudden rise off the short pitched ones. Even Spinners are getting a good nip. But suddenly Lanka's captain chicken thinks it is a 'dangerous' pitch and is out in the middle arguing with Dhoni, umpires and refereee trying to call off the match?????
These batsmen of today are so pampered that a little bounce and zip in a pitch suddenly makes it dangerous and an 'unfit' pitch?

On the contrary Zat this has been the most beautiful one dayers played in India in ages where most bowlers have been able to get their pound of flesh. Too bad it may be scrapped!

The last time a game was abandoned in India was in Indore in the end of 1997 at around christmas too against Lanka co-incidentally and that pitch was unfit for a game.

Most impressed with Amit Tyagi's line and length outside the off stump and his consistency in the area. The guy should be given a fair trial. These 20 overs were amazing in the sense there was a feeling of a test match in progress and not a one day game......

The Most Meaningless Of Meaningless ODIs. Dead rubber in a series that's too long. Yawn.

Oh, and it's up against a couple of Tests, bith of which are turning up interesting happenings. Although, to be fair, I accept that most Indian cricket 'fans' don't give a shit about Tests.

Fact is they do. It's fan and media outrage that had the BCCI suddenly scrambling to get more tests in this season. People don't want to give up on watching the Dravids and Laxmans strut their stuff yet.....

This is ridiculous. Looks like the game has been abandoned! WTF? Really feel sorry for the fast bowlers playing MODIs in India. Either they get dead tracks where their skill dies a dog's death or they get lively tracks where they challenge the batters and the match gets abandoned.....

Is this a sign that no curator in India now will ever dare prepare a sporting wicket!

Even though Tests for many years in India (from what I've seen on the teev) have been played in front of virtually empty stadia. Right...

From cricinfo....
8.35 The game will start 15 minutes late due to the conditions. Breaking news: Sunil Gavaskar, during his pitch report, says the surface looks like "a hair transplant". Stunning description that.
