Did Jadeja play for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL?

Yes.

I think MB's question was rhetorical

They'll need someone good to keep Bhajji on his toes, and I think they have them in Ojha in ODIs and both him and Mishra in tests. Jadeja is just a bit too mediocre to pose any real threat to Bhajji.

He's 20 years old. It's a bit silly to say that he wont improve in the next 3-4 years. Batting is the main string to his bow anyway, and he's barely been given a chance to show what he can do in that department. If India can find a guy who averages 30 with the bat at number 7 and 30 with the ball with an economy rate under 5 in ODI's, then that's a pretty handy ODI cricketer imo.

Well, he can come back in 3-4 years, no problem, if he improves. Just don't see it happening.

And infact, it's the main string to his bow that convinces me he won't be there long. He's mediocre. He is an OK bowler all things considered, but just a bit too 'bits-and-pieces"-y for my liking.

Well he's a better batsman than Raina for a start.

No, he isn't. Raina's an FTB, but he's a better FTB.

So 4 years later Raina is still riding high on the Greg Chappell endorsement that he received......

Superstar I don't know but i think he'd be a decent ODI all-rounder. Decent bowler, good fielder, and his batting will improve. With all 3 aspects considered he's probably a better value than Harby (his fielding has been atrocious recently).

india requires a proper bowler more than someone who can bowl a bit and bat as well (jadeja, yusuf, et al). our batting lin-up is already pretty solid. thats why jadeja will never really be a threat to bhajji, esp against the big teams. ojha is more likely to give bhajji sleepless nights

Jadeja looks more than a 'bowl a bit' bowler. Without checking the stats, I think he's bowled his full quota of 10 overs in almost all the matches (unlike Yousuf Pathan). With Indian bowling so shite in ODIs, they definitely need a fifth bowler.

His List A and First class record suggests he can be a good batter as well.

May be not a direct competitor to Harby but he definitely deserves some chances in the ODI team.
