disparity in penalties by ICC
The West Indies camp was upset by the disparity in penalties and has not ruled out pursuing the matter further, and Gayle's feelings were plain when he declined to comment on Benn's ban. "I might be the person getting the ban as well, you might not get anymore interviews," he said. However, Gayle said he was not shocked by Watson's antics when he had Gayle caught behind and then moved close to the batsman and cheered excessively.
I am sure that if the Watson gimmick was emulated by Sreesanth, then it would be at least 90% match fees.
the sooner BCCI helps ICC get rid of the Chris Broads and Mike Proctor's the better it shall be for world cricket. Else the otherwise docile subi shall grow a pair of balls and leave the ICC with a bloody nose.

Re: disparity in penalties by ICC
Watson was fined 15% of his match fee, while Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson were slugged 25% and 10% respectively after their run-in with Benn. Johnson clashed physically with the West Indies spinner and Haddin inflamed the situation by pointing his bat angrily at Benn and engaging in a verbal stoush.
The reports followed a reprimand in Adelaide for Doug Bollinger, who had kicked the ground in anger when he had an lbw appeal denied.

West Indies lodge protest against ban on spinner Sulieman Benn
ANI
Sunday, December 20, 2009 11:24 IST
Perth: The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has said that it will send a letter of protest to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the hefty suspension handed down to spinner Sulieman Benn, but will not appeal against the decision.
Benn was suspended for two one-day internationals after being found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute following an ugly mid-pitch confrontation with Australians Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson during the second day of the third Test in Perth on Thursday.
Contact was made between Benn and Johnson after a heated exchange of words got out of hand.
Johnson and Haddin pleaded guilty and were handed lesser sanctions, losing 10% and 25% of their match fees respectively, despite match referee Chris Broad slamming Haddin for his role as an inflamer of the incident.
The West Indies' hierarchy was upset about the severity of the punishment handed down to Benn, questioning why their player was slapped with a ban when the two Australians escaped with just a fine.
A team spokesman confirmed the West Indies would send a letter of protest to the ICC voicing their disappointment over the disparity in the penalties handed down.

A career option for Murali when he retires perhaps. He would, after all, know all about bending the rules.

Let aussies be suspended for a few matches for their Level 2 or whatever offences that they seem to commit in each and every test match they play at home.
and then we can talk about murali.

this thread has a similar feel to a complaint on Sauron in front of Saruman.

I think you might find that Proctor is the SA selection covenor.
But, as usual, don't let the facts get in the way.

Re: disparity in penalties by ICC
TBF Buckwit has a point about disparity. Not do much natioality wise but generally offence wise.
As for Murali, he should never have been suspended or fined for anything, because he should never have been given the opportunity to be in a position where he could've been fined or suspended.

Benn was the only one in the match who didn't admit he was out of line and plead guilty.

So why should that change the penalty?
