Is the ICC finally acting on slow over rates?
M S Dhoni has copped a 2 ODI ban because of the ludicrously slow over rate in the 2nd match of the interminable OD series between India and Sri Lanka.
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and teh ICC applies it across the board to other recidivists in the future.

its a good move if its followed up by more action against all. hopefully the dhoni action is not a one-off, like so many other times the icc has decided to take action
its not so much of an issue in limited overs as in tests. hope they really come down hard there

Indeed.
The ICC did unveil a new system for punishing offenders a few weeks back, anyone slowing things up now deserves whatever they get.

Tosh. Smith copped a 4 match ban a couple of years back.
I watched the last few overs and believe me Dhoni deserved the bn.

Easy peasy. For every over you're behind at the end of every hour (adjusted of course) you forfeit ten runs. And the captain is automatically suspended for two matches if the total overs are behind at the end of scheduled play.

Or put up a delivery clock. Cricket is the most stop start game in the world. With the possible exception of correspondence chess. Make it mandatory for bowlers to be in their delivery stride by the time the clock reaches zero, or there's a one run penalty for that delivery, even uif the batsman gets out.

American Football for the most stop start.
Do like the idea of a "bowling clock", with a run per second over the time limit added to the score

People never like ideas like that because it impacts on the actual score of the game. But of course the point is that the penalty is so draconian, people would make damn sure they got the overs in!

Exactly. Imagine what impact forty forfeited runs would have on the current Aus WI game.
