Modi Rumour - calling SG, batty, chandan, karti

Is there any truth to the story I heard over the weekend that Modi has moved the IPL forward because of the World Cup and that it now clashes with the end of our domestic season and shield final?...

the story in melbourne media over the weekend was that Modi is insisting that Oz players with IPL contracts turn up for the start of the IPL - those that don't will have their contracts rescinded and their State/county/province will be banned from the Chumps League...

this would prevent players from completing their domestic obligations including the finals

any announcements in the Banindian media re this story???

If this is about the one day WC 2011, no word on that yet at our end either. I don't think the IPL dates clash with WC. IPL would be in all likelyhood in April May while the WC would fall in Feb - March so it's unlikely.

If you are refering to T20 'World Cup' 2010, then it could possibly be trouble since the same windows would be desired for both. In which case tell the Aus players to tell Modi to 'F*** off'.....

This IPL is starting from March 12th and I think it was announced in June itself. Which IPL are you talking about?

Whatever it is, I'm sick of all the ODIs and T20s and would rather watch a shield final than a few inconsequentials ODIs or any such shorter formats.

I don't think Soccer WC will bring a change in cricket dates, if you call IPL cricket, that is!

I don't, but Horrie's concern is that arrangements in India might pull away players from domestic cricket finals. We'll all know in time I guess.

Do Australia have their Shield final after 12th March? In that case players might be tempted to go to IPL. But if it is before that date, I think it'll not matter.

Oh dear, just give it some time. Because in some time to come, these overdosed games will end up just like our national kabaddi games or the inconsequential 2nd plate division Ranji games do. Neither will have viewers who will care!
