He seems to like attacking WI captains. Used to disparage Lara as well. I don't think the captain is the problem. Hell, Gayle's average has gone up while being captain. We won a test in South Africa, Drew in NZ and regained the Wisden trophy for a while. He's doing something right.I seem to remember the last couple West Indies teams getting hammered when they came to Australia. I don't think blaming the captain is going to get us anywhere. Sarwan and Chanderpaul don't want it. I think Ramdin needs a little more time. I know some in the Australian media call for Ganga to be captain. But captaining Trinidad and captaining the WI are 2 different things. He averages 25 after 48 tests. He can't make the team and also he has captained the WI before in England and had the same disastrous results Gayle had earlier this year.

Why does anyone even care? I can't remember a Roebuck article that wasn't laying into someone or other - the guy's a hack.

Peter Roebuck has issues with West Indians resulting from some beef he had with Richards decades ago. He has been regularly taking pot shots at West Indian captains for some time now.

He takes pot-shots at all the captains. It makes him feel important. Probably.

Gayle obviously needs a spanking.

Roebuck is an idiot and I have stopped reading his articles tbh. We know we have problems, we know Gayle is not an ideal captain but the players like playing under him and that is that. Roebuck makes stuff up about players to try and prove his points because he is incapable of doing that using the power of words. That, allied with his history of borderline racism towards West Indians of African descent makes him irrelevant IMHO.

Actually, although I do agree that Roebuck is a bit of a cock at the very least, I do find his articles worth reading, even if I think he's taken leave of his senses on a particular issue.
