UK citizenship test

Post by Eric Air Emu on Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:46

If this hasn't already done the rounds...

I've been a British citizen for over 31 years and failed it. I better go ahead and deport myself....

Failed. 13 out of 24.

But completed in less than 3 minutes and mostly guessed, so, in a way, isn't that what makes us really British?

As an HR professional I'm shocked that we're telling Johnny immigrant to go to ACAS before their employer if they have a problem at work.

I think the problem is that it's all about memorising a booklet rather than really appreciating being "British".

One thing that is an essential part of being British is not having a f*cking clue about how the EU works or indeed caring much (unless you're in the Merlin percentile). The council of the European Union my a*se.

Derbyshire is very nice, though Derby is a dump. Chesterfield is reasonably nice, I've no idea why it wasn't called Chesterfieldshire or Chestershire or Cheshire II. The problem with this citizenship test is that it is actually about all of the most pointless things in the world. Who cares or knows what percentage of people in the UK are muslim? Bollox.

I doubt most civil servants could pass that test. In fact it looks like a civil service exam.

The UK should take a leaf out of our book and ask questions about cricket the ANZACS and racehorses.

Probably before the 'White Australia Policy".

Relax. Most Aussies couldn't pass our proposed (and promptly ridiculed) citizenship test either.

Though you can vote here if you were a British subject prior to 1984, which is about the biggest surrender of sovereignty since 1066.
