I didn't look that closely. It was traumatic enough opening up the sides of the PC FFS!

when you opened up your PC, look at the power connector of the fan.

It is a wire coming out of the fan case and connected to the motherboard.

can you open up the sides of the PC and take a pic and post it here ?

Can't tell and don't have my digital cam working atm either but my pc is identical to this one...



No.4 (No. 6 from the back view) is the fan going all stupid one me....

those seem to be cooler master case fans. In al likelyhood that is a 3-pin fan.

I suggest you call in a tech and ask him to remove that fan.
there is a side panel fan which will more than suffice.

p.s. you have another option of installing a cooler master 4-pin case fan which you will be able to control through the motherboard bios. It's slightly more expensive than the 3-pin fans. The 4th pin is the software controller for the fan.
