Good luck with that - had five engineers out in two weeks!

I didn't look that closely. It was traumatic enough opening up the sides of the PC FFS!

Re: Is my computer about to blow up?
when you opened up your PC, look at the power connector of the fan.
It is a wire coming out of the fan case and connected to the motherboard.
can you open up the sides of the PC and take a pic and post it here ?

Re: Is my computer about to blow up?
those seem to be cooler master case fans. In al likelyhood that is a 3-pin fan.
I suggest you call in a tech and ask him to remove that fan.
there is a side panel fan which will more than suffice.
p.s. you have another option of installing a cooler master 4-pin case fan which you will be able to control through the motherboard bios. It's slightly more expensive than the 3-pin fans. The 4th pin is the software controller for the fan.
