our most recent test wins in england, australia and south africa were mainly down to the seamers. Zak, rp, ishant, santh all bowled superbly. Our pace bowlers thrive in swinging / seaming conditions but dont have the skill to make things happen on flat tracks. Our batsmen can cope with any conditions which is why its suprising that we still see these 90s kind of pitches.

Our slow starts have been off shore not on home turf.

We're always slow starters, just that sometimes the overseas teams are slower in India.

That is not correct. If you check the scorecards you will find in general that overseas we start slow meaning that we lose or at best only draw at the start and then recover quite and often it is too late . At home that is not the case mostly we have struggled to hold on to early leads.

Obviously there are exceptions on both counts.

A side with just two good fielders and the rest of them sporting pregnant thighs and middle age paunches cannot stay on the top whatever else their other credentials are. That is what the Sri Lankans are exposing. Not that it was hard for anybody to figure for most barring the parochial Indian fan caught up with their individual player loyalties.

In the fitness and fielding stakes India has gone backwards. They were quite trim and almost at international standards under the Wright regime. At that time under a strict Physio, their diet was controlled and each player was given a maximum weight to stay under. Anybody who did not meet the criteria was treated with rough gloves including the big names. They had a rigorous fitness regime and the unfit were shown up.

It is quite clear looking at some of those clumps who are unable to bend down and get behind the ball due to the lack of air between their thighs and their inability to see their own feet due to the abdominal protrusions that we are back to the bad old days.

Let us see how much more humiliation they need before the penny drops.

Josh, are you sure you are an Indian fan and not the Indian version of Trev and Gus hybrid?

the only call to make, as per the first post, is that josh is an opportunistic and myopic idiot. and thats not exactly a hard one to make. strange bump indeed.

Are you disagreeing with the point that the fielding is pathetic ? Did you actually see our on field performance when we were defending.

Barring Suresh Raina there does not seem to be one World class fielder. Zaheer, Nehra, Viru it is a disgrace, even guys like Kohli are dropping sitters.

This on our home grounds, wait till we go abroad. The concern here is that it appears that the new management does not seem to be as focussed on fielding and that we are progressivelly going back. It will start hurting us big time in the closer games mroe so in the shorter versions of the game if the trend is not arrested.

Words of wisdom from somebody who pays more importance to player "looks" as opposed to their cricketing prowess.

another strange assertion from someone who spends more time observing the players 'pregnant thighs' and 'lactating figures' than the actual cricket being played. this thread is a tribute to karti - 'i was wrong, so basically i was right'. what a cock.
