Will the youthful and exuberant Sri Lankans
push the Indian think tank (if you could call them that) to make the hard calls ? Calls they are too scared to make fearing fan hysteria and the never ending Indian sentimentality of not wanting to let go.
They nearly did the job when the two teams met in SL. Maybe this time they will complete the job.

India's problem is simple
Fast bowlers aren't fast and even when they are( like Sharma) some smart ass tells them to start focusing on line and length garbage
Other problem: Bhajji is rubbish

Re: Will the youthful and exuberant Sri Lankans
india's problem is quite clearly their bowling and 3/4 of them are below 30. dont think age is their problem, just that they are toothless
i dont see very many replacements who would do better either. bhajji needs to be dropped for sure though

Any sane Indian fan (or even non Indians) would know that Indian bowling is the real problem. And its not new. Its been there since eternity.

Tendulkar would be the first man out of that team.

We've always been slow starters in test series. Hopefully we can get a draw here then kick on. Hopefully no more flat tracks though as we're playing the kings of FTBness

India's problem isn't their bowlers, it's their pitches. Still.

It isn't as if these same 'bowlers' become world beaters when they bowl on overseas pitches. They still remain crap.

That's not true. Our seamers do better abroad.

Weren't primarily the same set of bowlers hailed as the best balanced attack in the World after the home series against Aus ?

Re: Will the youthful and exuberant Sri Lankans
The pointers were there after the away series with SL, however Ganguly alone was scapegoated. It is not about batting or bowling, the whole approach sucks this despite having a pretty good Captain. The lethargy on the field barring 2-3 people is one major reason why the bowling looks so lethargic on such flat pitches. The fielders are not capable of making things happen on such pitches by building pressure.philcric wrote:Josh Carney wrote:push the Indian think tank (if you could call them that) to make the hard calls ? Harbhajan for one should have been rested. Ishant was a margin call. He could well have been rested too.
On the batsmen, with an eye to the future I have question marks on VVS, SRT and also Dravid despite his heroics in the first innings.
The answers hopefully will surface by the end of the series.

Looking at the home and away stats of current Indian 'attack',
Ishant:
Home: 27; Away: 45
Bhajji:
Home: 27; Away: 37
Zaheer:
Home: 39; Away: 32
Mishra is still a newbie, so doesn't count much.
Only Zaheer does better away, not by much though. And if you've studied Srinath's career, you'd have known that he too tend to bowl better at home and not on 'better' overseas pitches.
Thats always been the thing with almost every Indian bowler till date. And hence the lack of success for us in overseas tests.
