This is what his whole career should have looked like.
That's truly world-beating performance from a fast bowler though. I mean, I know we always want our players to be the very best, but I wonder if it's being a bit unreasonable to expect that? Lee's been a good bowler for Australia. Not a great one, but a good one. Perhaps it might be more appropriate to look at him in that light?
It's still inferior to McGrath and just about the same as Dizzy's overall career and these were our benchmarks for pace bowlers.

Perhaps you are being unreasonable in measuring him against them?

Can't do much about BLee's injury problems though (his action and speed of delivery was bound to cause niggles) ... which most surely will have affected his performances.
A gutsy bowler always stepping up to the plate when called - and well worth having in the side IMO - a bit like Willis - but without the boomerang shaped run-up.

JGK, hence my suggestion earlier that AUS fans were somewhat spoiled with the two legends together for so many years. Had they not been around, Lee and MacGill would have been first choice quik & spinner..... and with the extra responsibility, maybe both would have had a different attitude. I can't help wondering if - in the back of their minds - they knew McGrath and Warne would always cover their shortfalls.

Absolutely no doubt that we were spoiled by the greatness of Warne and McGrath. However while these two bowled a miserly and intellegent line and length, Bung bowled alternate bouncers and half volleys at 150 kph.
He could have been so much better in his Bung 2.0 period.

Welcome to the world of normal, non-great bowlers!

Fair do's, SS, but we saw what he was capable of either side of his unfuriating 2.0 period.
And he consitently bowled with intelligence and pace in JAMODIs in the 2.0 period. The brain-deadness of it all drove me spare.

And his piss-poor excuses for the tripe he was bowling . . . this is how I bowl, my role is to be fast . . . . etc, etc . .

Re: Kallis on the verge of morbid obesity
Let's get back on topic. Kallis is a rotund chubb-ferret. He's like a f*cking broad bean. I heard he recently went on a 'mad one' where he ate a biscuit for every Test run he scored and a rasher of bacon for every ODI run he scored. He said he'd continue to do so, which explains why he remains so hungry for runs. That's why he doesnt like bowling, he foolishly made a pact with himself to get rewarded with lettuce for every wicket he takes

Good job for him that the six Australia tests are out of the way then. That was only 35 biscuits per innings - a lean time in more ways than one. Now he can pig out as he FTBs Jimmy and Co for thousands.
