Common sense has prevailed. The senior players want him as captain, Sarwan and Bravo even stated this publicly. Apparently they have also chosen the squad but they are awaiting ratification by the WICB (I don't like the sound of that. Maybe the selectors didn't choose enough scabs?).

Ganga just isn't a good enough batsman unfortunately.

That's more like it. He had one excellent series against Australia at home in 2003 when he scored 2 centuries but that was it. He is a great leader at domestic level because he scores enough runs to have the respect of his team-mates. When he was captain in England after Ronnie suffered a shoulder injury he started trying to direct fielders and they just looked at him distastefully as if to say 'wtf is this guy who can't even bat half as well as me ordering me around for?'.

The same thing happened on the infamous West Indies A tour of England in 2001 when Tino Best, Suliemann Benn and Runako Morton ganged up on him and argued with almost every decision he made in a very public way.
