Re: Poppy Day
No you mentioned bowling greens. Black Sash was like suffragettes(or WTF you spell it) without jail time. Even the ropes wouldn't have jailed the MOTHS.
However some little old ladies decided to take a stand and used to regularly get banning orders whilst playing the last end.
Apparently the brain dead dickheads from BOSS used to enjoy watching the game and held off serving the order until the last piossible moment.

Re: Poppy Day
Nah! Popular in the late fifties (black sash that is) My wife's Dad got out when the Nazis went on a Jihad and started banning anyone who didn't have a copy of "Mein Kampf" on the coffee table. I decided to get gainful employment when the ropes decided that the ANC offices in London were fair game. Though typically they farked that up too.

Re: Poppy Day
Yeah was wondering about the timing but only got independence in 1961, so too early for you to live through that bit

Re: Poppy Day
Winds of Change? Way too young. I was about three and not really interested in geopolitics.
