The Sky newsreaders have had them on for a week already and it isn't even November yet.
One of the EPL managers (Harry I think) had one on the weekend

Yeah! A pub across the road from Cardiff Arms Park. Nothing but Cold Chisel on the dukebox. The Welsh loved it and didn't realise we'd loaded the thing up 'til play to midnight.
Nice crowd though. Even sung ' Waltzing Mathilda' after we'd whipped them.

Re: Poppy Day
I wear a poppy when I'm in work!
Apparently, you don't even have to donate money to acquire one. It sort of demeans the whole charity thing....

Re: Poppy Day
Yes, they've started very early this year. I'm sure it's not usually until the beginning of November.

Re: Poppy Day
Nowadays they have these stickers, so I boycott them. Loved it in the old days, when they had real paper poppies...

Re: Poppy Day
I will wear a poppy on Remberance Day, not a day, or two days, or two weeks beforehand.
It just 'cheaps' the meaning behind it all if you make the poppy a month-long accessory.

Re: Poppy Day
I'm not quite sure that "pride" is the right emotion to wear it with. Pride somehow suggests that the poppy is only worn for your own country's dead, and also that their cause was always glorious and justified. I wear mine with thanks, certainly, and a kind of I'm-so-lucky-it-wasn't me-who-had-to-fight feeling. Also quite a lot of sadness. Still, "Wear your poppy with pride" is catchier I'll admit.

Re: Poppy Day
I wouldn't knock the wearing of the poppy from an early stage (say 2 weeks ahead) at all.
The more people are made aware of the fact that millions perished (and continue to perish) in wars, the better the sense of understanding of the ultimate sacrifice.
I am a British Legion member and a poppy tin-shaker - and it never ceases to amaze me that there are still a shed load of people who will walk up to you and ask WTF the significance of "the red paper flower" is ... and then, after explaining, invariably tell you outright to " f**k off and don't be so daft/get a life" ... or words to that effect!
One final word ... it would be nice to see a lot more kids/young 'uns and members of the ethnic minorities (who also lost thousands of lives in the wars) wearing the poppy. For some reason (and I've asked the question several times when offering them one to wear) as far as those two groups are concerned, wearing it is a source of embarrassment....
Explain that one away?!
Okay - I'm off my soapbox now ....

I have nothing against the wearing of the poppy but merely stated that almost a month is overkill
