Sarwan run out for 60 going for a suicidal 2nd run. This is the 3rd time this has happened to him this year. He is nowhere near as quick as he was in his early 20's but stubbornly refuses to accept it.

Yes as there was a time when Sarwan was quite quick between the wickets etc. I get the impression Shah has always been an awful runner even in youth cricket.

Owais Shah is the unluckiest English cricketer in history. Picked and dropped more times than anyone else in the current setup. IMO, this has forced his confidence to an all-time low and I reckon it's part of the reason why he's so edgy between the wicket.

He's basically always looking to make the right move and in essence, he's over thinking it and failing.

He can definitely bat. Though I agree he is always nervous and sometimes I get cramp in my jaw just from watching him bat. Lord does he chew gum at a ferocious rate!

Still I reckon his international career is pretty much over. It's a shame as he has been a solid performer over the last few years in ODI's. His debut innings in test cricket against India was also very impressive.

It's a real shame his face "didn't fit the bill". I reckon if the England management had confidence in him since that 80 odd in India back in 2006 we might have avoided worrying about Ian Bell in the first place...

As it stands; Ian Bell will tour SAF and Owais Shah will stay at home. It's a mad world...

The selectors are waiting for Ian Bell to become a World Class cricketer and then they will say 'I told you so' to everyone. It doesn't matter if this takes him 80 test matches Very Happy.

Poor Owais got about 5 test matches to prove himself and that was it.

Shah's debut.

Bell top scored with 57 in one test of 3. Shah made 88 on debut (despite falling to cramp). Bell took advantage of some poor Pakistani bowling in the series in England straight after the India tour, whilst Shah was dropped to allow Trescothick back into the side. Crackers.

Wasn't Shah originally a victim of Fletcher's tendency to lean towards a group of players he favoured? Shah's face just didn't fit at the time?

It appears he was, especially when he chose Giles over Panesar during the Ashes 2006/07.

Panesar was the man in form, but was overlooked because Giles had "Ashes experience".

It was a load of bollocks. In the end, Giles dropped the Ashes in Adelaide.

Guyana 205 all out (Ramnaresh Sarwan 60, Royston Crandon 46, Travis Dowlin 41, Kieron Pollard 3/38, Dave Mohammed 2/38)

T & T win by 81 runs and retain the Presidents Cup. Darren Ganga becomes the most successful captain in the history of West Indies regional cricket.

Thanks to DJ_Smerk for keeping me company on this thread Very Happy

Cheers Cool

Honour roll:

Batsman of the tournament (most runs) - Narsingh Deonarine

Fielder of the tournament (most catches) - Omar Phillips, Sulimann Benn, Darren Ganga

Bowler of the tournament (most wickets) - Dwayne Bravo, Royston Crandon

Man of the match - Kieron Pollard

Bravo took 5 mins to get to the podium as he was being mobbed by what the announcer charitably called 'female admirers'. Very Happy
