I'll tell you what's more irrelevant RD; the fact that JGK poo-poo'd Rugby Union in a rugby union thread.

Unfortunately wasn't. Jeez union has become tedious

Actually it has. What happened to the running game?

Um, didn't the Aussies come up with some new rules to speed the game up?

Farked if I know, but watching the wallabies do 17 one out hit ups in a row and then turn the ball over does make you reconsider your choice to stay up and watch the stuff.

The running game? England destroyed that long ago. Ask Jonny Wilkinson. Martin Johnson defended England saying that they have become a more fluent outfit who aren't just playing it for the 3 points....

Not that I can say much, we scored all 12 points via kicking...

Yeah to run down your robo-props who obviously spent to much time on the lobotomy machine at Stellenbosch.

Well clearly the ideas were crap.

And when has union ever really been a running game?

We were really slow in the break down against the All Blacks. Something to work on against Samoa. The amount of turn-overs NZ acquired was unreal. We were to slow to get the ball to the passing unit and when Halfpenny held on, it showed that the nerves were obviously showing under the whole occasion.

Robbie Deans will be taking note. Whatever happens, we can't afford to be caught napping during those important rucks.

The most interesting period of the Aust v England match was the last 15 minutes when Aust scored and then England had to throw it around because drop goals weren't going to get them there.

Which begs the question why the rules don't encourage the whole game to be played like that.
