Well played by th Irish.

Good to see the Boks finally (FINALLY!) blown up for their programmatic contraventions.

Ireland played well again, their back play is a million miles away from England's. Until recently I thought they would struggle once the O'Driscoll generation reached the end of the line but some of the young players they have coming through suggests that won't be the case.

Quite possibly. I can't believe Wales are only 11 points behind after that 1st half battering.

We're severely under-strength so I suppose we have a mild excuse, but the players out there have just not done the business in the first 40 minutes. Pocock has been everywhere, he even popped back in a dislocated shoulder. 11 points, small mercies.

Well, it didn't help that Wales blew an opportunity so gaping that the much missed Tony Spreadbury would have commented "Well, you made a roight mess of that lads..." had been reffing.

Referee sights a Wales forward pass which was barely forward, while the Aussies have been getting away with them left, right and centre today.

Doesn't remotely alter the all round thrashing that this game's been though, does it?

It doesn't no. But as the comms said, a bit of luck when we're in this position wouldn't go amiss.

A weak and shambolic Welsh performance. We had 6-7 scoring opportunities, but instead wilted under a brutal Australian defensive line. Not only that, Australia really ran the game from the first minute, sublime running game and found try scoring chances at every pass.

Pocock and Giteau were dominant and deserve praise. We struggled in the scrums, gave away too many balls in the ruck, and we just couldn't penetrate the brick wall that was the Australian front row.

Overall, a disappointing campaign. We even struggled against Samoa and just about overcame Argentina last week. We would have liked to have had a better go at it, but we were just too poor this time round.

Catch, draw, pass, body height & compete for possession. Gawd it's a simple game.

Mick, further to your remark on the World Cup thread about optimism with regard to your international footy teams.

I'd say that about 70+% of the time, your RL side is so far ahead of the rest it's bordering on cruelty ...... I've watched us take some fearful hidings at international level.

However, I'm not sure your club game is by any means as far ahead. Since the start of the decade, theGrand Final winners from both countries have played a one-off game (admittedly in UK), but the wins are 7-3 in favour of the British clubs. Also, in the 10 years, you've had 8 different GF winners (only Brisbane Broncos with a 5 year gap between wins, and Melbourne Storm with a 7 year gap being the clubs with 2 trophies), whereas we've had just 3 teams compete ..... St Helens 4 times, Leeds and Bradford each on three occasions.

Have you any thoughts/opinions as to why there seems such a difference between the domestic & international game?

Growler
