Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
both teams equally crap. a tie would be a fair result

Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
fairly insipid performance by both teams...good effort tho by Noffers, who it seemed to enjoy proving a few points to the billy selectors...the most worrying aspect was that Ollie North got gunned yet again...hope this does not translate into more unlucky decisions

....and Crazy has been taking wickets AND scoring runs but i'm sure the national selectors will adopt their dark glasses & white canes to that fact.
YEP....They bring in another unknown in Holland.

Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
he is promising but too young to be pushed ahead of others at this time...unlike Horrors he can spin the ball and unlike Crazy he lands most balls on the pitch...however promotion at this stage will completely stuff his development as it did with the once promising Horrors years ago

Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
James Hopes has minor injury problems & was replaced in the squad by Scott Walter. With Ryan Harris & Chris Swan both unavailable due to injury & Ashley Noffke moving to WA, Qld will have an understrength attack. The batting lineup also contains a few with little FC experience.
The First Class career averages of the squad are below. It doesn't make pretty reading.
Broad - 30 matches 1932 runs @ 35.77 ------ 1 wkt @ 11.00
Kruger - 9 matches 397 runs @ 24.81
Carseldine - 32 matches 1604 runs @ 36.45 ------ 12 wkts @ 41.75
Reardon - 1 match 19 runs @ 9.50 ------- 0/5
Townsend - 0 matches
Batticciotto - 0 matches
Hartley - 49 matches 1906 runs @ 28.02 -------- 218 c 8 st
Simpson - 38 matches 1280 runs @ 20.31 -------- 38 wkts @ 64.47
Cutting - 4 matches 28 runs @ 14.00 ------ 11 wkts @ 48.18
Laughlin - 4 matches 20 runs @ 6.66 ------ 10 wkts @ 54.30
Sullivan - 9 matches 55 runs @ 9.16 ------ 16 wkts @ 63.12
Walter - 1 match 9 runs ------- 0/41
Hopefully Laughlin can show some of the form that saw him selected in Australia's ODI team. It will be a good opportunity for a few of these to establish themselves at Shield level.

Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
It was a pretty racist decision for Aus not to include Usman Khawaja in any of their A teams in the last 8 months, I thought. Instead they went with Ryan 'never will be' Broad.

BTW
Wade Townsend is the grandson of Les Townsend who many forummers will remember for his appearance in the 5th test of the 1958/59 series.

Remember when he gunned Swetman?
That would not have hit a second set of stumps

I would back Victoria to knock over any county team (even the wooden spoon dubbers would mince most county teams)

Tassie 1/148 against the Barrel Boys. Bailey n.o. 34 & Marsh n.o. 13. Only 53 overs due to rain.
